From Denim to Frida

First steps can be tricky – I sewed a denim jacket following a tutorial from Domestika.
Encouraged by such a personal success, I decided to push forward and take a chance on another outerwear project. Autumn is in full swing, and I have nothing to wear for my morning walks to work.
-Yes, walks – I actually walk to the office, or rather hike up there, but this blog isn’t about my commute, it’s about the transformation of my wardrobe.
I’ve got the fabric – once you could describe it as having an ethnic pattern, though what social media would call it these days, I have no idea – so there’s no hashtag for that. The pattern I’m using isn’t exactly vintage, but it falls under the category of "sentimental," from my teenage sewing days – Burda issue number —. The design is called the "Frida Kahlo Jacket," inspired by the artist herself.
Who Frida was, you can look up online, but I have to admit, ever since I watched the movie directed by and starring Salma Hayek, I fell in love with the person, the woman, and the artist.
So, this jacket will be my tribute but also a variation on the theme.
