The Final Stitch

Today, I decided to continue my dramatic attempt at sewing a lace skirt, opting for the French seam technique. This method involves double stitching the fabric so that the raw edges are hidden inside the seam, preventing fraying.

The process begins by placing two pieces of fabric with their wrong sides together, so the right sides are facing out. Then, sew the fabrics together with a straight stitch about 0.5 cm from the edge. Carefully trim the excess fabric close to the seam, leaving about 2-3 mm to reduce bulk. To make the work easier, you can press the seam. Next, fold the fabric with the right sides together, hiding the raw edges inside. Then, sew the fabrics again with a straight stitch, this time about 1 cm from the edge, enclosing the raw edges in a "tunnel.

Voilà! I believe that a lace skirt deserves such treatment of the edges, and indeed, it warrants this kind of attention.
